Vrindrani Awards – Season 5

The Lasya announced the results of the Vrindrani Awards – Season 5 and the Partha Awards – Season 2 at an event held on 19 October 2025 at The Museum Theatre, Egmore. The evening brought together classical, folk, and temple-arts presentations, alongside the distribution of 27 awards.

This year’s Vrindrani Awards were decided through public voting over a 45-day period, during which 19,347 votes were recorded. Twenty-two artistes from across India received the people’s choice Vrindrani honour. Five Partha awardees were recognised for their continued contribution to the performing arts.

The programme included Carnatic music, solo classical dance, and a curated folk-arts suite. The evening began with a Mangala Vadhiyam by the Namba Aathu Katcheri ensemble, followed by a Nadhaswaram segment by T. G. Murugavel and T. G. M. Venkateswaran. A solo Bharatanatyam presentation by Prithika Krishnakumar formed part of the classical section.

The folk suite featured Thappu/Parai, Karagam, Mayil Karagam, Thavil, Nadhaswaram support cues, and a Silambam presentation. Performers included Sharath, Bharath, Charugesh, Deepak, Vijay, Gowtham, Philip, John, Jagan, Rajasekar, Nagaraj and Dilli (Thappu/Parai); Devi and Suganya (Karagam/Mayil Karagam); Raaja (Thavil); Pazhani and Sekar (Nadhaswaram support); with Silambam led by Tamil Selvi Manikam and team. Namba Aathu Katcheri later presented a classical katcheri segment.

Speaking on the occasion, Maria Raj, Founder of The Lasya, noted that the awards continued to encourage public participation and deepen engagement with classical and folk forms. Rukmini Sakthivel, Director, The Lasya, said the platform aimed to recognise consistent work across different styles and regions.
