Bharathanjali celebrates Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Centenary
Bharathanjali Trust commemorated the Centenary of Bhagawan
Sri Sathya Sai Baba with a special celebration at the Rasika Ranjani Sabha
Foundation in Mylapore on Sunday. The Trust, which has been honouring artistes
on Bhagawan’s birthday for over two decades, marked the milestone year with the presence of senior exponents from the arts
fraternity.
Founder–Trustee, Anitha Guha and her students offered ‘Guru
Padhavandhanam’ to senior gurus as a gesture of gratitude for their lifelong
service to the arts. Among those honoured were Karthiayini Natesan, Professor N.
S. Jayalakshmi, Naatyaachaaryas V. P. Dhananjayan, Shantha Dhananjayan, Guru Radha,
Professor A. Janardhanan, Ambika Butch, Revathy Sankaran, Professor Sudharani
Raghupathy, Savitri Jagannatha Rao, Chitra Visweswaran, Nandini Ramani,
Krishnakumari Narendran, B. Meenakshi, Vasanthalakshmi Narasimhachari, Ananda
Shankar Jayant and P. R. Venkatasubramanian.
Students of Bharathanjali presented excerpts from Sarvam Saike Samarpanam, offering their performance as a tribute to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The event was attended by several eminent guests, including Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti, Sudha Seshayyan, Narthaki Natraj, J. Balasubramaniam and Nagarajan.
The Trust also conferred Title awards on artistes and
cultural contributors. Recipients included Sathyanarayana Raju, Shankar
Kandasamy, Shobana Ramesh, Veena Murthy Vijay, K. Sivaloganathan, Sailaja,
Lalitha Venkat, Mahalakshmi Ashwin, Sai Kripa Prasanna, D. S. Rajagopalan, V.
V. Ramani, Nagai P. Sriram, Sukanya
Ravindhar, G. V. Guru Bharadwaaj, K. R. Ramakrishnan, Vishwesh Swaminadhan and R.
S. Kumar of Cool Events.
Anitha Guha described the event as a humble offering at the
Divine Lotus Feet of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. She said the centenary
reminded everyone that art rooted in devotion becomes an act of service and
highlighted the importance of honouring gurus while encouraging the next
generation of artistes.
