Amrutha Venkatesh started her career as a performing Vocalist in the year 1996 . She has imbibed the best from her gurus  M.T.Selvanarayana , Charumathi Ramachandran , Prince Rama Varma and Parassala B.Ponnammal. She was noticed by vidwan T.V. Gopalakrishnan, when she won a music competition in Bangalore which resulted in her first December season concert in Chennai in 2001. 

Her performances have received appreciation from  connoisseurs world over. She has been recognised for her unique analytical approach , versatile repertoire , a refined singing style , that is replete with melody , bhava, and a flexible voice. A Top Graded artist from Akashvani and Doordarshan , she has performed extensively in India and the USA. Apart from being a performing artiste of repute, she is also a composer and has composed varnams and tillanas and also regularly tunes compositions by various other great composers.

Prominent among the awards and prizes she has received are Outstanding Senior Vocalist prize and Best Senior Concert prize from the Madras Music Academy and the Raga Laya Prabha award from Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira , Bengaluru. Her teaching methodology has gained prominence and she has students all over the world, many of whom are performing artists and teachers . In addition, she also conducts masterclasses and workshops.
