The Department of Posts issued a 5-rupee commemorative stamp on 18 December 2005 to pay tribute to the great Carnatic vocalist M.S. Subbulakshmi who had passed away a year earlier on 11th December. It was released by Chief Minister Dr. M. Karunanidhi at a special function held at Kalaignar Arangam, Arivalayam, Chennai. The first album was presented to another great vocalist D.K. Pattammal.
