The first swara, the ‘Adhara
Shadja or Sa, is personified in
this painting. As mentioned
in the introductory note published
in the July issue of Sruti, all the
saptaswara devata paintings including
the Shadja, were visualised based on
the characteristics found in Muthiah
Bhagavatar’s Sangeeta Kalpadrumam.
