Madhyama, denoted by the
syllable Ma, is the name of
the swara that occurs in the
middle or ‘madhya’ of the saptaswara.
This is the fourth in the gamut of the
seven swaras.
Madhyama has two vikritis or
variations – suddha (madhyama) and
prati (madhyama).
