Saptaswara devata: Dha

That melodic tone which is related to ‘dheevaan’—one who has a sharp intellect. It may relate to a dheevan in his capacity of being able to bring out the characteristic of the melody of the swara or in his capacity of being able to understand and appreciate the nuance of the sound of this swara. Thus is the etymology of the term ‘dhaivata’ elucidated by Kallinatha in his commentary to the Sangeeta Ratnakara.
