Agni-The third chakra

As there are twelve months in a calendar year there are twelve chakra-s in the melakarta scheme. Last month
we reproduced musician-artist S. Rajam’s depiction of the first two chakra-s for the months of April and May.
This month we publish the third chakra which coincides with the June calendar. In the first column, under
‘raga name’, Govindacharya’s nomenclature for raga-s 13 to 18 of the third chakra, is given below that of
Venkatamakhi. The abbreviations sa, ra, gu, ma, pa, dha, dhi, dhu, na, ni, nu indicate the swara-s used
in the raga-s.
