The Brhaddesi series,
consisting of presentations and seminar discussions, highlighting the
music and dance traditions of different regions
/ areas, ranks among the
most purposeful activities
of the Sangeet Natak
Akademi. The series
took off after the seminar
'Matanga and his Brhaddesi was organised by
the SNA in 1995 at
Hampi.
(The manuscript of the
treatise was available in
the Travancore archives
and was originally edited
by Sambasiva Sastri in
1928. The text, as edited
by Dr. Premlata Sharma,
was published by the
IGNCA in 1994.)
