Manifold manifestations of Krishna
Where would Indian
classical dances be but
for our rich heritage of
kavyas, providing inexhaustible
thematic inspiration for art creativity?
Natyarangam’s choice of Krishna
Bharatham for its twentieth thematic
festival comprising Bharatanatyam
in duet form, underlined manifold
manifestations of Krishna—the
accessible divinity encapsulating
the entire canvas of emotions and
attributes. Natyarangam’s idea
of scholarly resource persons to
assist the artists was certainly unique.
However, though ensuring that their
enthusiastic introductory preludes
remained within the stipulated
twenty minutes without eating into
performance time, proved tricky—with dancers often paying the price
of a depleted audience because of a
delayed start of the dance.
